DDLab Mac readme: Jan 2025 update ------------------------------------------------------------------- The following files (.tar.gz) contain the mac 64bit executables for mac_intel and mac_silicon, and GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE they are available at .... http://www.ddlab.org/download/ddlab_compiled_Jan2025/ and mirror sites. ddlabz13_mac_intel (runs on the mac intel chip, now discontinued) ddlabz13_mac_silicon (runs on the latest Apple silicon chip, for M series macs) Thanks very much to Ed Coxon for these compiles, which will only run on the correct mac. Run DDLab from a terminal in X11, which must be installed. From the directory with the DDLab files, enter the name of the executable (here renamed ddlabz13) preceded by ./ and followed by &, for example ... ./ddlabz13 & Alternatively, first change directory to "ddfiles" then enter the name of the executable preceded by ../ and followed by & ../ddlabz13 & This will keep files generated by DDLab in the ddfiles subdirectory. --------------------------------------------------------------------- If the run is prevented with a notice like this or similar: "ddlabz13 cannot be opened because the developer is not verified" ... Search "Open a Mac app from an unknown developer" for your mac, then make an exception to your security settings, usualy something like ... >click the apple logo >select System Settings >click Privacy & Security >in Security click Open Anyway >enter your login password, then click OK --------------------------------------------------------------------- You can recompile DDLab yourself from the source code using Makefile_Mac_z13 (same for intel and silicon) provided in http://www.ddlab.org/download/ddlab_code_Jan2025/ or adapt the this Makefile for your Mac. DDLab would appreciate news of alternative compiles. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Note on missing hash "#" from some mac keyboards: "#" is used for some on-the-fly options, for example, to toggle scrolling space-time patterns. If "#" is missing as in "MacBook Retina 2016", it can be made with alt(option)3, the alt or option key and key 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------
